What's OE with Chadel about?

Throughout my career in the outdoor industry, I've collaborated with numerous companies and international schools renowned for their high standards and diverse approaches to Outdoor Education programs. I've gained extensive knowledge through on-site and pre-program training, as well as hands-on experience. However, I've come to realize that there isn't a singular platform where the general public can access comprehensive learning on these various systems, techniques, and skills.

While there are specialized centers offering training in facilitation skills or specific hard skills like climbing or kayaking, these tend to focus on individual skills rather than a holistic Outdoor Education approach. Additionally, seeking such training overseas can be prohibitively expensive.

I am hoping to change all that. I would like to bring this multi-discipline-never-ending-learning skills to your backyard. My vision is to establish a central hub where both hard and soft skills converge to create meaningful content. I envision a place where Outdoor Educators, Instructors, Guides, Facilitators, and Naturalists can select topics of interest and learn them affordably, returning to their workplaces energized and eager to teach.

A little about Chadel

Chadel has been an outdoor educator since 2003. His work and play took him to many places, backpacking in Australia and paddling the whitewaters in New Zealand, taking up a NOLS Instructor Course in the Rockies, a Wilderness EMT course in Wyoming, a Remote Paramedic course from COROM (College of Remote and Offshore Medicine) in Malta and 401 clinical hours at the Emergency Department of KCMC (Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre). When he feels a little braver in the Summer, he works as a sea kayak guide in the Arctic Circle Norway. He currently holds a BC Advance Sea Kayak Award, is a BC Advance Sea Kayak Leader Aspirant, and also a BC Whitewater Kayak Leader Aspirant. He has led and ran over five hundred different programs which includes leadership expeditions, workshops skills and personal expeditions.

He also began working on a local non-profit project called “Kayak Kaki", which goals were to educate and share the skill and knowledge that they gained throughout the years, to anyone and everyone who is interested in learning for FREE. Please check out https://www.kayak-kaki.com/. This project also allowed him to do what he love best, teaching.

He loves eating Char Kueh Tiaw and Nasi Lemak, always.

Reading the river
Reading the river
On programs, i have been thrown into work so many times, without knowing how to run certain lessons! I remember feeling lost, a little embarrassed and just winging it. I would like to help Outdoor Educators bridge that gap. By joining my class, i would ensure you have the tools to adapt to any situation that's
thrown at you!
Chadel and Ryleigh
